Kami J. Hopkins

Kami Hopkins is the owner and principal attorney at Hopkins Trade Law, PLLC. She founded the firm to pursue her combined passions for the law and international development and trade. She aims to provide high quality representation to importers, exporters, and investors at an affordable rate for multinational corporations, small businesses and individual entrepreneurs alike.

 

Prior to opening her own law firm, Kami was a litigator whose practice focused primarily on toxic tort and mass tort litigation, as well as general insurance defense. Kami is admitted to practice before the state courts in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and the United States Court of International Trade. Her professional memberships include the Minnesota State Bar Association, Wisconsin Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association, Minnesota Women Lawyers, and Midwest Global Trade Association.

 

Kami earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2009, taking courses in Advanced Corporate Law, International Trade Law, and International Contracts. While at the University of Minnesota, Kami studied abroad at Uppsala Universitet in Uppsala, Sweden. She was also a member of the Journal of International Law, and completed externships for the Honorable Steven D. Wheeler of the Second Judicial District of Minnesota and the General Counsel of Christopher & Banks Corporation. Kami is a 2002 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Business Management. As an undergraduate, Kami participated in the Washington Semester Program on International Business and Trade at American University in Washington, D.C. In addition to her coursework, Kami interned at the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

 

Before attending law school, Kami worked in pediatric cancer research. Her work on the late effects of childhood cancer and cancer treatments is published in the journals Pediatric Blood & Cancer and The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
